Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

How was everyone’s week?

I finally reached my activity limit and crashed. As in, Wednesday I could do no more and physically felt ill about it.  After running for a week solid, I hit my max and spent the following evenings sprawled out on my floor, canceling plans and instead watching My Fair Lady and Notting Hill, two of my go-to tired/sick/someone-please-take-care-of-me movies.  And it was glorious. And much needed. And a reminder that I cannot do it all, despite an intense FOMO.

Chicago is abuzz with life and to sit home and bond with Netflix seems something to be reserved for a few months from now, so I need to figure out how to do it all without doing myself in.  Seeking lessons in balance. Please advise.

Anyway, lots of fun bits this week, so let’s get to it.

It’s the thought that counts. After being on numerous bad dates in my time, this had all the makings to be a pretty good first one.  However, execution fail. Poor guy.

Sibling love. A reminder that siblings are your first and forever best friends. On that note, happy birthday to Little Buddha who turned my age last Monday. Irish twins!

A noteworthy milestone. Here’s hoping they make it to two years.

The best sendoff for a beloved teacher. I hope when it’s my time to go, my family and friends do some sort of choreographed dance at my funeral.  To Britney.

I can relate to this.  For me, Apple Crisp and Blueberry, Friend-speak is our vernacular.

A great idea! Subsidized healthy groceries from health insurance companies. Come on, Blue Cross, jump on this bandwagon.

Could we all love Tom Hanks more than we already do?

No dog video today, but how about a cute baby hippo?  Forget the fact that he’s going to grow up to be pretty mean.

Also, thanks to Kettle Corn, my new fave cover band. Bringing back short shorts.

Have a good week!

  • Another cute post, Chrissy. I’m so glad I got to enjoy your company at my bday dinner before you crashed! I’m now trying to think of what my “someone please take care of me” move is…

    Talk soon 🙂

    • Thanks! And it’s very to important to have an “I’m sick” movie…let me know what it is when you think of it 🙂 And congrats on the house!

  • I’m not going to pretend balance is easy but it helps to schedule an off day as ridiculous as it sounds, treat it like a plan like you would with someone else: “on Friday after work I will put my phone in the bedroom and watch Netflix and get takeout and go to bed early.”

    • I was actually quite good about doing that very thing last fall with a big “NO” on my calendar. I’ve just gotten so bad about it, but this was a good reminder…it’s going to be a busy week ahead because I failed to NOT do that last week…
