Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

I’m happy to report that the week of sloth and of me was a huge success. I sat around, watched TV, and sat around some more. I also played a random game of beer pong (with water) because the 21 year old is alive within me somewhere.  All of the above means that I’ve found my mood much improved, and my outlook on recent difficulties brighter.

Self-care. The oft forgotten priority.

Here in the middle we’re still experiencing some warmer than norm temps, and I was able to get out on the tennis court a few times this week-I NEVER thought I’d be playing mid-November- and my favorite Chicago moment of the week was Friday night, playing under the lights with Chicago’s glow in in the background. It truly felt like a movie moment.  What was your movie moment this week? It’s fun to think about.

I hope your week was equally restful and uplifting, despite recent events. Perhaps these little bits will help:

Speaking of movie moments, how about wedding moments?  Beautiful.

Should you find yourself at the airport delayed this holiday season, I suggest taking a page out of their book (make sure you watch through the bicycle!).

The One Where Rachel wasn’t played by Jennifer Aniston.  Whoops.

Do you believe in ghosts?  Read this.  Do you now??

Have you read all these?  100 fiction books all children should read.  I failed at school.

Why I hate politics:  the exploitation of Paris.

I don’t have kids, but even I can appreciate the hilarity of these parenting tweets.

The Size 14 conundrum.   An interesting look on some psychology behind clothes shopping.

And finally, as you wish. Secrets from The Princess Bride. Now who wants to come over and watch? I’m cooking.

  • Another couple of nice days ahead; I’m so excited!

OMG, those parenting tweets are every reason I don’t want to have kids.

The size 14 conundrum was interesting, but I don’t agree with all of it; there are still people who gain weight and have to wear business appropriate clothes to work; you may not want to buy them but you have to. And if you’re short or tall, the lengths/size aren’t available in stores. When shopping with friends, I have 101 sizing issues/fit issues, and rely on standbys I can order online; but my average height. Size 4 and 6 friends have generally picked up anything off the rack and it works. EVERY.EFFING.TIME. Shopping is frustrating, not to mention sizing issues between stores. One of the very best things about not working in a formal office is not having to buy new work clothes.

    • I do agree with all that you said, but I also remember the times that I didn’t want to shop because I gained weight. Luckily I was in college and could live in sweats, but I do know the reality if that was to happen now that i’d have to bite the bullet and buy the bigger size. That’s the beauty of most of my dresses though, they can accommodate at least one size up, albeit not as comfortably, but still in a way that makes it look appropriate.

Don’t you just love shopping with friends that are taller than you and wear a smaller size than you? I mean, nothing helps my self-confidence more.
