Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

Yes, that’s supposed to be me. No, it does not really look like me.  Yes, I downloaded an app pointedly earmarked for “teens.”  And yes, I painstakingly spent more time than I will admit trying to get it to look like me.  I just wanted to give you all an indication of my productivity level so far this weekend.

How was yours?

I’ll admit that I am a little jealous of all you out East. I do  love a good snow storm when it’s not causing me to miss flights or hindering my driving. I like knowing Mother Nature is taking care of me by giving me a day when I have no where to go and nothing to do.  However, I do know that the reality of this in my life is…not so idyllic.  Because in Chicago, we man up and don’t let snow storms keep us inside. That means that despite the 2 feet of snow that may fall, I’ll still have to go to work and do all those real world things, and the snow would just be a messy nuisnace.  But once in a while, it’s not, and I’m sort of wishing that perfect winter day upon myself, especially as I get over from the cold that shall never end.  So enjoy it, East Coast.  And use it well.

This week.  What happened this week? It sort of went by in a blur for me, partly because I spent the first half of it California dreaming.  Still, this is what I managed to get out of it.  Some really thought provoking stuff…this is not. I’ll do better next week:

Carpe diem?  Maybe not all the time.  When it’s it’s too hard to appreciate a day, let’s just appreciate a moment.

For laughs. Animal Thug Life. Thanks, Kettle Corn, for bringing this into our lives.

More laughs:  FAQs of  #Blizzard2016.  Q: will skol b closd 2mrw?????  A: For your sake, I hope not.

Science, ya’ll.  We all know that stretching is good for us.  Here’s a nifty visual.

A vending machine for short stories?  Super cool!  Much better for our health than say, a Kit Kat or a cupcake (both of which, I love, BTW. I mean, I’m not a soulless).

Let’s GO BUFFALO!  So proud to say that my hometown team hired its first female coach!  In college I was a football manager for the wide receivers at Notre Dame, so I know first hand that girls are more than capable when it comes to wading through this male-dominated sport.

User error? I can relate to this.  I also have had bad experiences where I’ve incorrectly used Lush bath products and ended up with some minor yet noticeable abrasions.  At least I never turned pink.

Darwin awards. Is this dude for real?  Gold-plated testicles were never a good idea.

I’ve been a gym rat since I could be at age 16, and while my attitude has been pretty much consistent since I started going, I couldn’t help but laugh at the reality of this.  Working out in your 20s vs. your 30s.

And finally…Is it sad that I want some of these as my bedroom now? The coolest kids rooms.

Have a great week!

Written while some weird puppet show played in the background because I failed to change the channel after Meet the Press.

  • Welcome back, Chrissy! I love the short stories machine. Speaking of short stories and snow storms, I’m sure you’ve read Jack London’s To Build A Fire. I thought of it just now and I’m going to go dig it up from the basement. It’s one of my favorites.

    • I haven’t! I’m going to have to dig it up somewhere now too because I do love Jack London.

  • I really wished it snowed here, too. Now that I don’t live on the first floor I’m loving being able to watch our 2 storms from 4 floors up. So lovely. Such a good reason to stay inside.
