Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Or, happy half birthday to me!  I officially round up to old. But as the saying goes, age is just a number.

How’s everyone’ s weekend?

Yesterday I was the model of productivity, meal prepping and cooking and all that jazz.  I even went swimming even though “feels like 4 degrees” was the situation outside and I was all cozy under my electric blanket. I think for that, I should get all the awards and extra fries.  Don’t we all just wish that’s was how the world works? Extra fries for all accomplishments.

But really, must it be so cold?

I also started re-reading “Pride and Prejudice” since it seemed like the appropriate thing to do to celebrate V-day.  Tell me you’ve read it.  I always get lost in the language. Words like “thither”, “mischance”, “felicity.” I’m always in agony over whether Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are really going to get together. Read it. I know you’ll love it.

Enough rambling and speaking aloud the thoughts of Meg Ryan that sometimes run through my head. How about some somethings:

This boy gave a flower to every girl in school for Valentine’s Day. May he be always this sweet.

Game, set, match.  Seems like women who play sports are more successful than those that don’t. I’m sure this is not limited to women, but I guess I should thank my parents for all those years of tennis lessons I used to hate.  And my generation for not having participation trophies.

The best late note ever.

People aren’t always what they seem. Whoa.

I feel like I regularly pass on advice from old people, but I always think their advice is just so worth repeating, especially as we get bogged down in day to day and work and life, and things that don’t really matter. Anyway, I love this, particularly this tidbit:  Years go by in the blink of an eye. Don’t marry young. Live your life. Go places. Do things. If you have the means or not. Pack a bag and go wherever you can afford to go. While you have no dependents, don’t buy stuff. Any stuff. See the world. Look through travel magazines and pick a spot. GO!

Sort of related: Mom used maternity leave to travel the world with her newborn (and husband). That’d be nice and super awesome for them, but it’s not really that possible when you only get 2 months off…don’t get me started.

When you put it this way…an American accent is so much less posh than an English one.

I’m sorry, but I can’t help but laugh at this picture.

Festival of living art in real life.  So cool.

Anatomy of a sick day. All true.  Except maybe the 12:15 bit.

And the travel list gets longer.  Gorgeous must-sees.

Do I even need to say how ecstatic I am about this? #Potterhead4EvR

And finally, human tykes aren’t the only ones that fight bedtime. Seems that bears do, too. The cutest (fast forward to 2:45).

Have a good week!

Written on a clearly hopping Saturday eve.

  • Well isn’t that naughty panda the cutest?!
While I didn’t like most of Modern Romance the only thing that stuck with me were a few older couples that said while they loved their spouse, they regretted getting married so young; that they never felt like they had the opportunity to live their life. While I don’t have a plus one I do adore the flexibility to go anywhere at any time.

    • My gauge for whether I like someone is if I like them enough to “spend” my vacation time on them. I’m not wasting days on just anyone!
