Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday. It’s been a crazy few weeks full of get-togethers, brunches, happy hours and those sort of things, and fortunately/unfortunately it’s not looking to slow down on my end until…December? Sounds about right. I hate that I’m the person that always says, “I’m so…

Hello, Sunday.

Well, as you can see from this lovely mural I snapped on my way home from the gym yesterday, pigs are flying, and the Cubs are in the World Series for the first time in 71 years! I’ve never counted myself among the throngs of baseball fans but I certainly can’t help but be so, so excited about the hometown team.  Tomato lives 2 blocks from Wrigley, so I’m sure she won’t mind us all crashing there for the next few weeks.  GO CUBS GO!!!

(Also, Let’s Go Buffalo!, who are playing the Dolphins today…)

Honestly, the excitement of the playoffs has been all us city folk have been able to talk about or focus on this week and a welcome distraction from all the political unpleasantness. I hope you’ve been able to find something to help you along with that as well. We’re almost there, folks. Home stretch!

The internet!  Thanks to Yam for helping me along with these this week…

Remember: refugees. They’re just like us.

#TrumpBookReport:  Sorry, to funny to not share.

More green space = lower mortality.  I don’t need to see it to believe that, as I live in this concrete jungle.

Seeing those often overlooked, Bitty & Beau are setting an example we should follow.

Mary Poppins is one of my favorite movies of all times, so the idea that they were going to reboot it make me less than enthused. Emily Blunt’s casting helped ease my fear, and now, Colin Firth!

Curing the technology addiction: One man is trying to figure out how to help us all.

I love Canada, and it makes me sad that they feel so sorry for us that they need to #TellAmericaItsGreat.  Still, I love you Canada!

9021-old.  The sad part is that Will Hunting and Zack Morris are almost there, too.

Weekly animal video:  Elephant saves man he thinks is drowning.  Love.

And finally, if we’re not kind to ourselves, who else will be?  A good reminder from a horrible person.

Have a great week!

Hello, Sunday.

How’s the weekending going?  Mine has been great because Biscuit is visiting!  She is my blogger BFF after all, and it was apropos that we finally meet in person. There has been a lot of brunch eating, baseball watching, talking, talking and talking. And it’s been so lovely!  Some shopping today and some Sunday laziness will cap it off and get us ready for the week ahead.

The election is thank-God almost over and I found it was hard to dig through all that crap to find somethings that were actually interesting, but I did it, so here are:

The Anxious American Parent. It’s a thing. The rest of the world sees it and we don’t. Can we fix this?

No more Marmite?!?!  Brexit just got real.

When locker room talk isn’t that.  Professional athletes tell us exactly what entails locker room talk, and we all love them for it.

The only reason to have the debates is to see what jokes the internet can come up with.  Don’t you agree?

2016 has been quite a year, yah?  Sixteen jokes about 2016 that are both hilarious and sad.  Tears and laughter.

Oh, hey, vaccines don’t cause autism.  Just in case you needed a reminder.

Don’t mess with determined dog owners, mass transit.

Unsung Heroes. Americans will make America great again.

Child Brides Learn to Take Portraits. And it puts the rest of us amateur photographers to shame.

Makes these for me, thanks. BBQ Chicken Skillet Nachos.

Update: Cubs win!

Classic pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting is quintessential fall, and whipping it up takes no time and it’ll satisfy many a sweet tooth!

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.
I have to give a big shout out to my BFF, Apple Crisp who just finished the Chicago marathon! I bow down to her and all the finishers because…26.2 miles.  Super-persons!

I feel like I’ve done nothing with my life of note lately. I cooked some good things this week though, so go back and check those out. Otherwise, life goes on.

I’m so fed up with election news that I can barely be on the internet or watch TV. I was at the gym this morning and every TV was turned to political something and I just can’t anymore.  Don’t you agree?

Anyway, a few things for your Sunday consideration:

Amazon primers out there: Did you know that you can read these magazines for free?  Score!

Related:  Science says readers live longer.  Get thee to the library!

While I haven’t taken the plunge yet, it seems all the single ladies are putting down roots all by their awesome selves.

To make: Smoky fish chowder, because ’tis the season for chowda.

The benefits of a mid career break– I can get behind one of those!

Do you like carrot cake?  This is THE ONE.

And finally, the funniest animal photos, because there is a debate on tonight.

Have a great week!

Written after shoe shopping.
