Monday Musings

Monday Musings

Hello, Monday.

Well, I’m officially fun-employed. After seven years, seven months and four days, I packed up my cube last Friday and bid a sugar-and-champagne fueled teary farewell to my job and my friends, and still thinking about it makes me want to start crying all over again.

Mom came this weekend and helped me pack and as you can see from my apartment pictured above, I’m almost done and oh my goodness I have a lot of stuff.  She also took Crawley with her, and that made me sad, too, and the tears were there again as I read the various goodbye and good luck cards that I received over the weekend.  I’m a mess, and my bell curve of tears and excitement has once again fallen to the tears side. I’m sure unpacking my new place in a few weeks will bring me back to a plateau of excitement, but I’m not there yet.  Change is good, but damn it’s hard.

So I’m sitting here trying to tie up internet loose ends before that, too is cut off.  The movers come Tuesday and then I head east with just me and my few boxes, and Patrick. He’s the stuffed animal that you see pictured above.

Patrick was my first favorite stuffed animal. I got him for Christmas back in first grade, which makes him my oldest “friend” save for my brother. He’s the toy that stuck and the one that I carried with me to college, and London and everywhere else. He’s precious cargo, too much for me to entrust to the movers.  The song playing in the background when I took this picture was Judy Garland’s “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” and I honestly couldn’t think of a better song to play at that moment when I looked around my apartment and saw that I really was leaving Kansas for Oz.  At least, according to TimeOut, I’ll always be a real Chicagoan

More deep thoughts to come, as I have more time to write since I’ll soon have no friends. #DramaQueen

The internet’s uplifting right? Let’s see what we’ve got.

Need breakfast ideas?  Here’s a look at some healthy ones from around the world. Sign me up for all of them because they all beat the Rice Krispies I’ve been eating lately (I take that back sort of because I love Rice Krispies but you know, not the well-balanced breakfast that Snap, Crackle and Pop proclaim).

Did you ever listen to Weird Al as a kid? Little Buddha and I had a pretty strong streak going for years, and to this day, I still know most of his original songs by heart.  Was Weird Al the real star all along?

Love is love is love is love is love.

Maybe we can learn a thing or two from these other countries?

LOVE ACTUALLY IS GETTING A SEQUEL! Sort of, but still deserving of all caps.

Did you ever write a letter to a celebrity? Because I was the coolest, I wrote to the cast of Home Improvement and to Tiffani (Amber) Thiessan  and got a signed photo from each of them! Clearly, it works.

Oh, New Yorker.  Romantic Comedy Jobs, updated to 2016.

Killing the planet, one day at a time.

Because I really need a cute puppy right now.

Finally, I’m going to have a new apartment to decorate soon. What are some of your favorites right now?

Have a good week! If you have the day off, enjoy the hell out of it.

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday. How was everyone’s weekend? Mine has been good, full of enough to do, but not too much that I felt like a headless chicken. Lots of catching up with old friends and new, and a farewell brunch to wish Fava well on her […]

  • We will miss you! you must know how much you are appreciated. I would say, live life to the full, but you already do.

    • That’s really the best compliment that anyone can get. I froze a few for her, and mom LOVED the tarts. They’ll likely make an appearance at her spring tea 🙂

  • “I have more time to write since I’ll soon have no friends” I already send Laura all the over-dramatic memes on insta, I’ll be sure to also forward them to you….hahahaha. I’ll always be your long distance friend. The best part of working from home is not having meetings and always being available to email you back. Also, you seemed to have glossed over the best part, EAST COAST TIME ZONE!
