Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

I’ve had such a nice weekend celebrating my birthday (37 this week…yup) with my friends and family. Tennis, eating, swimming, eating, cake…all the things that make having a summer birthday great. Even if it’s not your birthday, I hope your weekend was full of all the things and people that you love, too.

I’ve been sort of checked out from the world wide web this weekend, but here are the few things that managed to catch my eye:

Our Idea of Healthy Eating Excludes Other Cultures, and That’s a Problem.  Because food is so much more than just energy for our bodies.

Why you should take your vacation in the fall.  Yup, and yup. I know that I’m lucky because I’m not working around school schedules, but I might as well take advantage of it!

In the late 19th century, more women were becoming librarians. Experts like Melvil Dewey predicted they would suffer ill health, strain, and breakdowns.  Dear, imagine what those experts would think now…

Why we shouldn’t ignore the threat of white supremecism.

Related:  one year after Charlottesville, a survivor speaks out.  And this one, is the sister of one of my dear friends.

It wouldn’t be a Sunday Somethings if I didn’t include an article about people being STUPID about alligators.

When you commodify a language...who really wins?

In pictures, life in a refugee camp.

And now, I leave you with this blueberry mojito.

Have a great week!
