Hello, Sunday.
I woke up this morning at 11:30. It was almost P.M. I almost completely missed morning.
The funny thing is that I didn’t feel bad about it. Not a lick. This never happens, and for the first time in what seems like a long time, I didn’t have an alarm to set. No yoga class to wake for, no reason to rush out the door and no reason to get out of my fleece pants and slippers (yup, tomorrow is June and it’s still all about the fleece pants and slippers. BOO Chicago. Boo.).
It’s on Sunday that my mind seems to wander and reflect on the past week: the good, the bad, the interesting. Those things that I hope to repeat again this week and those that I hope never to repeat again. Things I saw, read, or incited discussion amongst my friends. Musings. Somethings. So in that vein I decided to start a weekly series, appropriately titled Sunday Somethings, to put the stream of consciousness on paper and maybe then, you’ll share your somethings, too.
Here we go.
Necessity is the mother of invention. Having way to much cornbread leftover from my Meal Share on Tuesday, I ended up throwing extra in a bowl with some Greek yogurt, fresh berries, walnuts and thus discovered my new favorite weekday breakfast.
On that note, why meal sharing is cool.
My favorite spin teacher retired on Wednesday and has left a void in my workout routine. I’ve been spinning with her for 6 years…what am I going to do??? Seeking input. On the upside, no more bi-weekly 5:15 wake up calls, so I guess one answer to that is…get more sleep.
Reality: sometimes being single is lonely. Perfectly put by Briony Smith.
Why are there so many unmarried women in their thirties these days, Bridget? A closer look.
No more love locks in Paris! A lovely tradition gone extinct.
This is kind of an old book, but I found it very interesting. The Molecules of Emotion, by Dr. Candace Pert, science-ifies emotions so that thick-skulled rationalists like myself can believe, with certainty, the old adage of “trusting your gut.”
Taking a page from the aforementioned book, I started meditating for 10 minutes every night to de-stress before bed using the free app Headspace. Seems to be successful since every single night I’ve been out like a light before the 10 minutes is up.
The Chicago Blackhawks are heading to the Stanley Cup Finals! #OneGoal #BecauseItsTheCup.
How cute! Because sometimes life should be unicorns and rainbows (warning: affiliate link).
And finally, since you’ve heard me wax poetic about my love of Pancake Sunday for the past two+ years, I’m happy to report I’ve found THE recipe. My new favorite, Scottish Pancakes. So, check this . Chocolate chips are obviously a necessary addition.
Have a great week!

1. i LOVE this
2. why the heck is it so cold? Saturday morning was crazy humid then the storms rolled through and it was 30*C colder.
3. oh no, your spin instructor. can she maybe recommend someone like her?
4. go Blackhawks! But to be completely honest, I’m cheering for no one.
5. I made cinnabun-ish pancakes this weekend. They were magical.
Thank you! It’s a lot like your “Friday, I’m in love” which you know I love so I’m glad you approve. It’s okay that you don’t cheer for anyone in the Cup, just like I won’t cheer for anyone in the World Series 🙂 Weather is the worst. I’m glad I get to go play volleyball tonight in the 50 degree weather. Boo.
Oh and these pancakes are the perfect blank slate, so I might try yours out next!
