It’s time to turn back the clock a few weeks to happier times and talk about my day in Hue, perched on the back of a motorbike.
Have you ever ridden on one? It was a first for me, and hopefully not the last!
We started the day by getting out of crazy traffic in Hue and headed to the countryside, stopping at a local market to check out some of the offerings.
As you can see, some of the ingredients were quite fresh!
And as always, pop-up food stalls were ready to serve the first hungry customer!
We learned about some local traditions, such as this adorable bridge, where lovers would come to meet.
Our next stop was a visit the lakeside royal tomb of Emperor Tu Duc. Seemingly forgotten, we had the mossy ruins to ourselves.
Which means that we couldn’t help but have a little fun!
Our journey continued with a spot of lunch amongst some blooms ready to burst.
Our meal was veg, all fabulous! And, on the prettiest china.
Stuffed to the gills with deliciousness, we made one last stop to the 17th-century active Buddhist monastery of Thien Mu Pagoda.
Incense burning to honor those gone before.
And of course, flowers to celebrate the New Year.
We arrived back safely at our hotel (thanks to my trusty motorbike driver, Woo!).
The day ended with smiles all around, waiting for the next ride!
OMG, now I want to go to Vietnam, looks sooo fun! – Kat
