Well fed and well rested, we set off for our day on Skye. It was a good one.
There are many stops that one can take, and many directions one can drive. We started out going through Portree, the main town on the Isle, and headed clockwise, our first stop being the Fairy Glen.
Actually not our first stop. Our first stop was on the side of the road because we just had to start taking pictures right away. It was just all so pretty from the get go!
After a few more pit stops, we finally made it to the Fairy Glen.
I mean, are we in the Shire?
So many hills to climb and valleys to explore.
And the most breathtaking views from the top.
If you go, get there early. There is no official car park and everyone is doing their best to squeeze into the pull-offs that dot the barely two-lane road.
Once we started back on the road, there are so many vistas over which to just stop and gaze.
One of ours unexpected led to an hour hike, but no complaints here!
On the east side of Skye, we made pit stops at Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls
and ended our day at Brother’s Point where we found ourselves seashell shopping.
The next day started with an early morning ferry ride from Mallaig,
included a quick stop at the Glenfinnan viaduct where we caught a glimpse of magic,
and a few more breathtaking views.
Another stop down the road in Loch Laven brought us the most delicious lunch of scallops and seafood soup.
And we ended the day in Oban, warm from a few shots of whisky.
Next, off to Ireland!
