The tales of #OurMilesThroughtheIsles continue across the water and into Ireland’s greener pastures. We spent a little more time in Scotland than in Ireland, but man, we sure jam packed our days on the Emerald Isle.
And ate well while doing it.
We bid Dublin a swift farewell, eager to get back on the road and lost in the greenest hills we ever did see. We had the luck of the Irish as far as weather goes, and only a sprinkle or two got in our way as we headed south towards the Kinsale coast, with a quick jaunt to the Rock of Cashel to stretch our legs in a few ruins.
Peeking through every nook and cranny, catching all the glimpses.
We made it to Kinsale under clear skies, with just enough time to hit of the most adorable little shop that sat conveniently right next to our guest house.
Tomato and I were in Kinsale for less than 24 hours on my last trip, so I was happy to return, see and eat a little bit more and I’ll tell you that I love this town even more the second time around, and can’t wait to go back for a third!
With daylight enough to explore town before dinner, we did what we do, grabbed a cone and went for a walk, wandering down cobbled streets, popping into a shop here and there before tucking in for dinner and a good night’s sleep before our day on Dingle the next day.
Knowing that we only had one day on the west coast, I heavily debated Ring of Kerry vs. Dingle Peninsula. But, the internet deemed Dingle the winner so a few stops on our way to Dingle and a loop around Slea Head Drive made up our day.
First stop, Inch Beach, was a picture reminiscent of California, surfers and all.
It definitely made me want to get in on the action and take a dip.
But instead, we had to content ourselves with finding friends on the shore.
Squidgy friends at that.
Unfortunately, the weather started to take a turn with more sprinkles that we’d have preferred, but that didn’t stop us from jumping out of the car to take a few pictures.
The buzz about Dingle was not overrated!
And before we left the coast, we had to stop for a few necessities, and check out Dingle, the cutest town ever (though perhaps a little overrun with tourists like us!) before ending the night in Killarney, full from the best lamb shank out there.
One day to go!
