There’s something about the magic of Disney.
There are those of us that feel it. It’s a club, one that some would loathe to be a part of, and others, like myself, that shout it from the rooftops.
We embrace the magic, feel the hope, are inspired by the happily ever afters and let the child within us squeak out every now and again.
Tomato’s also part of that club, so when she suggested that we had to Disneyland Paris after our time in London was done, I was all to quick to agree.
Though, some things did still look familiar.
The thing about it is that Tomato and I have been to Paris a handful of times together, and not once had we ever thought to go before. We wasted not a moment making up for lost time.
Posing like statues, as we do.
Looking for and eating all the cute food.
Checking out the castle digs…
…and feeling right at home.
Our time there also had us searching for adventure…
…thinking wonderful thoughts…
building castles in the air,
and running into some old friends.
Due to the late sunset the fireworks were a bit later than we were used to
But, we’d say they were worth the wait.
Some practical notes:
There are two parks. Disneyland is like the Magic Kingdom, and Walt Disney Studios is sort of like a combo, but smaller version, of Epcot and Hollywood Studios at WDW. We went at the height of summer (Bastille Day, as it were) and we got through both parks with ample time over the course of two days. If you do make a trip out there, one day should do it.
It was super convenient to stay on the property- our hotel was a 10 minute walk from the parks. However, it’s (usually) a straight shot on the RER from downtown Paris if you’re planning on staying in the city (the train lets out literally at the parks’ gates). We had the bad luck that the rail was under construction, so an alternative to that is you can also pick up a bus from Paris proper to take you to the park.
Speaking of hotels, we booked ours through Expedia. We got an awesome rate which included 2, 4-day park hoppers. Check that out as an option rather before booking direct with Disney and you might save yourself some dough.
Don’t expect WDW or DL cast member service and enthusiasm. It’s not going to be the same, so check your expectations.
The line waiting times were sorely inaccurate. SO inaccurate. Just an FYI.
In any case, it was good to be home.
