A few weeks ago I went out to brunch and had a bad drink. Today I’m making that bad drink a good drink – hi, bourbon maple cold brew.
Yes, bourbon maple was a theme these weeks. See this pecan butter.
Anyway, brunch is my favorite meal and while I’m less inclined to order a cocktail with any other meal out, I’m easily convinced when we’re talking mimosas, bellinis or the like to complement my hearty breakfast. Savory please (I used to be a sweets only but I’ve converted because of things like biscuits & gravy and crab cake benedict).
When I went out a few weeks ago with some friends, I was feeling the cooler temps and cozy atmosphere to try something new and coffee seemed like a good start. A coffee cocktail seemed like an even better start.
Well, the cocktail was sub par – the coffee not strong enough, the cream overpowering and the ice making the whole thing too watery. Bleh. I knew I could do better.
Now, I’m hardly a mixologist, and don’t have as easy a time throwing things into a cocktail shaker as I do into a skillet. But I did this and it came out pretty good!
It gave me the same vibes as this Hasty Devonshire (made up that name, sure did) I made ages ago, so if you’re into coffee drinks I recommend checking that out too.
This one comes together quick and dirty- and likely uses stuff already on hand at home. Give it a brew!
