Is breakfast in bed really a thing? I mean, it seems like a mess. But, if it is your thing, I’m thinking this homemade maple sage sausage would be just the thing for it.
Actually, this homemade maple sage sausage would be the best addition to any breakfast sandwich. So that what I’m showing you because nothing looks less appetizing than a meat patty.
When it comes to breakfast meat, I’ll admit that I’m more of a bacon girl because I find sausage to be mostly underwhelming. That is, until I saw Rachel Ray whip some up ages ago and it’s always something that stuck in my mind. Ever since that popped into my consciousness around 2004, I’ve been a big fan of making my own.
The best thing about it is that, like most homemade things, you can be 100% sure of everything that goes into it- and for this recipe, we’re talking 5 ingredients. And that includes salt and pepper!
I’ve done this a few ways but for this particular iteration I’m going with some fresh sage just because it’s such a wonderfully fragrant smell to have permeating the house this time of year, but dried sage will do just fine as well. Depending on the age of your sage, you may want to reduce the amount.
Anyway, we’ve got:
ground pork
fresh sage
maple syrup

Once you’ve cooked up your sausages, I’m making the following suggestion about how to make this into one swinging sammy.
buttery biscuit
sharp cheddar
runny egg
Done and done.
And in case you’re into other awesome breakfast sandwich ideas- this one’s my favorite.
The recipe below is just for the sausage. You know how to make a sandwich!
