It’s fall ya’ll! Let’s get after it with an apple cider margarita.
Not only is it fall, but it’s GAME TIME. Football season, late-season baseball, and even tennis, which ended its Grand Slam season this past weekend- I’m here for all of it. And while we slowly make our way to the World Series, National Championship and Super Bowl, we’re faced with a lot of tailgates, nights and weekends that need some eats and some drinks, and in that respect, I’ve got you covered.
Whether you’re like me and have my loyalties, or you’re only here for the food (“yay, sports!”) I think we can appreciate that what we eat is almost as, if not more important, than what we watch. And since fall does have some of nature’s best offerings of the year (whether or not you’re Team PSL), I’m using that to inspire my fall food vibe.
First, we drink. Growing up in Florida, I missed more than two decades of trips to the cider mill, and let me tell you I’m making up for it now. Fresh apple cider is everywhere in Michigan these days, so I figured I’d use it to mix up my favorite anytime cocktail, the classic margarita.
Besides using cider as the base, I’m mixing in a snazzy lime-vinegar-sugar concoction that I picked up at Zingerman’s Deli to further elevate this cocktail and add a bit of tartness to the sweet cider. Maple syrup subs for simple syrup and cinnamon sugar rather than salt line the rim. And to be a little extra, dried apples provide the perfect garnish.
Fall in a glass, if you ask me.
An apple cider margarita is the epitome of fall, with sweet cider, tart lime and a cinnamon sugar rim for a truly seasonal twist.Apple Cider Margarita

Second, we snack. And because every good sip deserves a snack, I put together two charcuterie boards, one sweet and one savory (because who can decide?) to get us all to the final countdown. Here’s how I built my boards:
For the savory:
Sharp white cheddar cheese
Manchego cheese
Brie
Dried mulberries
Dried almonds
Tempesta salsiccia secca picante
Blackberries * Strawberries
For the sweet:
Marshmallows
Crunchie Rocks
Homemade white chocolate bark (made with trail mix)
Honey roasted peanuts
Toasted Pistachios seasoned with Mexican chocolate bitters
