Back to Espana. Let’s chat about San Sebastián.
San Sebastián is a little town (city?) in northeast Spain, tucked into the Basque country along the coast -in fact, they speak both Spanish and Basque around town. Popular amongst foodies for its Michelin dining, pintxo-pub crawls and white, sandy beaches, and I can confidently say that it did not disappoint on any front.

(Though the Michelin dining will need to wait for my next trip)
We arrived after a few hours on the road, so after a quick refresh, we were happy to stretch our legs and hit the Old Town- the charming area of San Sebastián with narrow, cobbled alleyways and pinxto bars around every corner.

I can’t ever help but ogle at the beautiful buildings and architecture – how gorg!

Besides sexy doors, archways are my favorite.

I think it’s the sneak peak before the reveal.
Ok, perhaps glamorising archways a bit.
Anyway, after a long day, we hit the pubs. For pinxtos, that is.

Huge selections of…pretty much anything. Just point and eat.

Forks at the ready!

The next day, we did a free walking tour, which, as always, was great (I love a free walking tour), and learned all about the history of the city (and Spain in general) – of course there was a fire, lots of conquerers, Spanish dictatorships and secret food societies and strolled around both Old and new town.

Do Not Enter.

I love this statue honouring the women that rebuilt the city after the fire. #GirlPower. Women really always have run the world.
Finally, before heading south to Madrid, we took some time to enjoy beautiful La Concha beach.

While perhaps too cold for a sustained plunge, it was worthwhile just to get our toes in the sand.
Hasta luego, San Sebastián!
