Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

How are you? Another birthday came and went for me this week. It was a Wednesday birthday, a blah day to have a birthday, especially when one must work and adult. Still, at least there was cake, and good friends that lured me out to celebrate with bibimbap and gelato. God bless good friends.

The end of summer is coming – I can feel it in the air with slightly cooler afternoons and slightly earlier evenings. I’m not mad about it, but I do hope I can get a few more pool days in before it shuts its doors for the season.

What are your remaining summer bucket list items?

The weekend has been a bit lazy, with leisurely bike rides, lazy afternoons on the couch watching tennis and reading, and pizza and movie dates with friends. In other words, perfection.

I hope you also had a little opportunity to put your feet up and chill before Monday rolls around yet again.

As for the ‘net, lets’ get to it:

One thing I started doing religiously this year as I crept towards 43 was to add strength training to my routine in a significant way- with heavy weights- starting with 4 days a week and rotating to a 5 day program and now a 3 day program, to mix it up. To be clear, I much, much prefer cardio, but I can’t emphasise the difference it’s made in the last 7 months.  Why everyone should be strength training after 40. It sucks, but do it anyway!

We’re getting personal today – I suffer with what H and I refer to as “the travel problem.” Do you?  #solidarity.

An all-you-can-fly pass? Seems to good to be true. When is someone going to figure out apparition already?

Is tipping just out of control in the US? As a former service worker –  say yes, and I do get the guilt to do it anyway when indeed no service is actually being provided. Can’t we all just get paid a living wage? Another convo for another day.  A friend of a friend came to town from Spain recently and was absolutely agog when she got the bill and had to add a tip onto it. Why are we “special” compared to the rest of the globe?

It’s me. Hi. I’m part of the people who quit dating.

Don’t mess with an Olympian– good for her.  A lesson in keeping your mouth shut (especially if you have nothing nice – or truthful- to say).

An example of grace under fire.

Another what is wrong with people?

Arconians – are you ready??

That’s it! Have a great week!
