Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

It’s been a bit of a whirlwind here. Last week was nuts and last Saturday I was triple booked before I jaunted over to Boston for a few days to play with D and her family. It’s so nice to tag along on a trip where someone else has done all the planning. I got back with little time to catch my breath, so when this Saturday rolled around I was more than happy to indulge my the long awaited chore list such as recaulking my shower. Today I have some paint touch ups and, as I discovered about 10 minutes ago, need to unclog my garbage disposal.

Mundane chores, yes, but it’ll be nice to get them done after staring some of them down for months. And I can stop looking at the painter’s tape on the wall.

I hope you allowed yourself the lazy kind of day that allows you to also focus on the mundane and uneventful. We need those kinds of days sometimes.

As for the week, here’s what caught my eye.

“I can’t tolerate gluten here, but I can in Europe.” Sound familiar? For me it’s mostly pasta, but why is that? Lots of reasons perhaps, but my money is on the ingredients we are allowed to use here. Grrrr.

Are we even surprised anymore?  History books are now banned, apparently. Go away, Texas.

Are we nearing the end of Air BnB?  In some places…it may be harder, at least.

I can vouch for this- why you should never go swimming after a hurricane. I went down to Mexico a few weeks after one of them back in 2006 and the ocean was so gross we didn’t want to swim in it.

Wait, aren’t we supposed to be air-drying our hair? Apparently not. So many rules on the hot girl hamster wheel.

Here’s some good news tonight.

Dia de los Muertos is coming. It’s a lovely tradition and while Coco brought it more into the general public’s awareness (LOVE Coco!), it’s worth a deeper dive.

Did you know that Gen Z doesn’t go out? Like to dance in bars and clubs? Gosh that makes me so sad for them – I loved my bar nights in my early 20s dancing to oldies and newbies until the wee hours.  Bars, it seems, are adapting.

It’s time to bust out the pumpkin! Cake or bread or cookies or soup or pasta? Pick your pleasure.

That’s it! Have a great week!
