Hello, Sunday. It’s been a busy weekend; full of theater, tennis, cooking along with all the normal weekend things. I’ll be in London two weeks from today (!) and I’m trying to get things all set for your reading enjoyment, as well as spending as…
I love cooking classes. They’re just such a fun way to get your hands dirty amongst strangers that become friends. As someone that spends the majority of her time cooking alone, talking either to the void on Instagram, or Crawley, my most avid fan (or so I like to think), it’s always a welcome way to spend an afternoon or an evening. The problem I run across often is that I do now how to make…well, a lot, so I’m not going to pay someone quite a lot of money to teach me how to make something that I can piece together with my own common sense. As such, I don’t attend cooking classes that often, so when I do, I’m always excited about it. Mom and I kicked off the summer taking a strudel class a few weeks ago. The result was a savory asparagus strudel and a sweet cherry strudel, and it’s the latter that I’m sharing with you today.

Good morning, Monday. This weekend, truthfully, I spent recovering from my short stint in Boston this week. Nothing happened that was particularly exhausting, but just the same I was so tired that I got just enough done to keep it from being a complete wash.…
I’m in Boston for work, waiting out the rain today, but yesterday I pounded the pavement for a good chunk of the day, and it reminds me why I love hanging out in cities so much (now that I no longer live in one). Remember when a few months ago my friend and I impulsively took advantage of an airline sale and ended up in London for the weekend? The inspiration for this recipe for coconut tapioca pudding comes from that, and the boozy brunch at Scarlett Green, an Australian-themed place tucked into a corner in Soho, that fueled our half-marathon of walking for the day.
Plantain crusted chicken breast is made crispy by coating thin chicken cutlets in seasonings and crushed plantain chips and baked until golden.
Hello, Sunday. I’ve spent much of the weekend playing my first tennis tournament in…let’s just say a long time. It’s not going very well, but I need to remember that it’s going to take a while and a bit of practice to let those competitive…
While I much prefer cooler days to the hot ones that we’ve got coming up, there are a few things I do love about summer: the longer days, that up here in Michigan extend until almost 10 pm and bright mornings that make 7 am on a Saturday not seem so early, and the willingness of friends to get out and go and do, things that are too easy to ignore when you’re looking outside at snowy weather and below freezing air. One of my favorite things that I do with my friends is brunch, either out or at someone’s house, and since I’m always too ready and willing to play hostess, I had to come up with a new, delicious brunch entrée, and this one is easy and effortless, much in the way that summer itself should be. So get ready to feed your friends with these baked eggs with chimichurri.
