Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

The busy life continues and the overwhelm of it all caused me to put on Bridget Jones’ Diary last night for some sanctuary. I think it’s the stress of so much impending travel, plus some home-project disarray that is making my head spin. I’ve decided that this week I’m going to protect my peace as much as possible so that I can head to Alaska with the attitude of Excelsior! that it deserves.

We’re into fall, and I’ve already bought my first jig of cider and made my first loaf of apple bread. Are you there yet?

The news was somewhat of background noise this week as I lived and breathed the U.S. Open. And what a win last night! Anyway, here’s what else made my brainlines.

What is middle age? As a 40-something, is this a category into which I fall? Turns out it’s more of a mindset than an actual number.  Which makes sense because age in general in a mindset, IMO.

Snacking seems to be the new dinner? In any case, if you’re following this trend, here are some that will up your game.

Speaking of game, it’s football season and here are a few of my game day faves.

A hurricane-proof town?

Last week Joy the Baker talked about how, at 42 (same as me), she was considered lasers for her skin. I told her, and she responded, that we have thus far been hoping that the magic potions that are serums can keep us from going for the lasers for a while. Do they work? Here’s the dish on hyaluronic acid.

Why do we work 8 hour days again? A history.

Finland just keeps climbing no my hit list lately. First this, now ham.

Ugh, why can’t we just all settle back on cable?

That’s all- have a great week!

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

Well, summer is fleeting by and I’m out here trying to make the most of it while I can.  The days are getting shorter and the mornings cooler and I actually wore a sweatshirt out more than one day this week! I don’t hate it, but it does make getting up for that 7 am court time a lot harder. Crawley has also been acting like a straight up wackadoo this week, so he must sense something other than a full moon is in the air as well.

In true Leo form, I’m continuing the month-long birthday celebration today with a trip to the water park with my friends, followed by pizza, ice cream, cookies and root beer floats at my house. #Thisis42.

Also, side note unrelated to anything –  as D and I are already discussing what to wear for our Eras Tour outfit (actually, she’s discussing, I’ve decided and there will be no second guessing), I went and tried on some sparkly short-shorts that I got for my Britney-themed 30th birthday party and I’m happy to report that 12 years to the week later, they still fit.

I hope you are also embracing these lazy days before fall and all it’s madness sinks in. Because once it gets going, we all know that we don’t get a break until December.

Anyway, I hope this gives you some time to yourself this morning, feet up and coffee in hand.

Are solo travellers obligated to give up their seats for families? I was actually happy to see how many people were in this single person’s corner. I once was super guilted into giving up my Comfort Plus seat on an international flight for a mom to sit with her kids and the only reasons I moved were 1) I didn’t pay for the comfort plus- I was rebooked on it when my original flight was cancelled and 2) I got a bulkhead seat out of it. But imagine if I had paid the extra $400+ for that upgrade on a 9 hour flight home? I was fuming at the presumption of this woman.

Asian glow is more than just alcohol intolerance, it seems. A warning.

These trees have email addresses, and are getting more love letters than I am.

Poor Britney.

Coffee “runs” explained. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who wondered.

Do I need to try this shaved fruit ice ASAP? I shall, and will report back.

Will travel for butter.

What kind of girl am I? The awesome kind. No other labels necessary.

Heartbreaking- adopt, don’t shop!

The Labor Day deals are forthcoming.

And finally, remember that Sundays are for pancakes.

Have a great week!
