Hello, Sunday.

Why is the weekend almost over?  I have not done nearly as much sitting around or sleeping as I’d hoped, and now tomorrow is Monday all over again. However, I did watch a really cute, feel good movie on Netflix called, “A Royal Night Out.”  You know I love those royals.

Otherwise, I’ve spent this week feeling a little more social and a little more willing to explore some restaurants and blind friend meet-ups.  I was lucky enough to have a built in friend group when I moved to Chicago, which meant I could be a little lazy about it but this time, if I want to have friends, I realized effort must be made.

Anyway, here’s some fodder for your Sunday morning lazy coffee.

Baking for others has always been my thing. I love nothing more than whipping up cookies or a cake for those that I love (or a spontaneous cake for myself, which I’ll be doing today). Turns out, my reasons were perhaps a little selfish?  Or at least self-serving.  Psychologists explain the benefit of baking for other people.

Last year I accidentally became a bandwagon baseball fan when the Cubs won the world series. My Cubbie crush continues this spring, and this Bryzzo ad is adorable.

Crayola is retiring a crayon! And a part of all of our childhoods dies.

The world really is all of our classrooms, but what if it was your ACTUAL classroom?  Parents take their kids for a year on the road.  Not gonna lie- jealous.

The only times Crawley is a jerk is when 1) he wakes me up TOO DAMN EARLY and 2) he tries to steal my cheese and ice cream. Otherwise, I’d argue he likes me back and would take just as many picture of me as I take of him if he had opposable thumbs. Anyway, sciences says cats might not be as jerky as we think.

The fight for equal pay has been won by Iceland.  

And finally, I love a good love story, and this is one of the reasons that I love Bones so much, which ended on Tuesday after 12 seasons.

Hello, Sunday.

We’ve made it another week and we’re all alive to see it. High fives, all around!

Crawley and I are finally getting into a groove with our days and nights, which involve Jeopardy, running the halls (the C-man has 1 pound to loose because he eats too much damn ice cream. Don’t we all….) and less coffee, more tea.  Michigan life seems to suit us both thus far and with a peek at a 70+ degree day this Friday, I think that this summer is gearing up to be one for the books.  Until then, as I promised both myself and you all, the season’s last batch of French Onion Soup is simmering away on the stove because it’s still a little bit cold out, which means it needs to be a little bit cozy in.

As for the internet, it keeps on keeping on.  

Who doesn’t love a good “Shakespeare IRL”?  Just me? Anyway, this story of star-crossed babies made me smile, and don’t we all need more of those kinds of stories?

Hello, Sunday.

I’ve made it through my first week of the new job, and it’s safe to say things are going well. It was not at all natural to be back at work after three weeks off, meaning that a life of leisure is definitely something to which I could get accustomed.  But, working girl for now I am once again.

I’ve also been cooking again, reading again…being the old version of myself that had been pushed away by the fast pace of Chicago life.  I’ve been enjoying Ann Arbor [Little town, it’s a quiet village] so far, though I’m not much a fan of all the driving.  For instance, yesterday I actually went to the movies! Mom and I went to see Beauty and the Beast and OMG you have to go if you even somewhat liked the original. I don’t want to say it’s better, since cartoons and live-action are apples and oranges, but likely you’ll leave wanting to 1) re-watch the original (which I did) and 2) go back to the theatre and see it again.

I could really talk about that this whole post, but I realize some lack the Disney gene and I would like to make this interesting for you as well, so the internet is helping me with that:
