My Favorite Things: 2018

My Favorite Things: 2018

The tradition continues with my third annual My Favorite Things post.  To reiterate, I’m not necessarily suggesting that every person on your list might find these to be nice presents, but merely that they were among the things that I liked, and used and loved regularly, or am hoping that I might soon call mine.  And, if you know someone that might be a little bit like me, they might like them, too.

Again, it was sort of hard to come up with a list! I’m not really a huge stuff person: I rarely impulse purchase things (vacations excepted) and spend most of my disposable income on said vacations. Still, a few things got me so excited this year, and I’m happy to share them with you!

(1) Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder.  How much am I not a make up person? Still, this goes on over my tinted moisturizer and kept me looking pretty fresh all day, even with the ungodly hot summer we had. Highly recommend! Free shipping over $50.

(2) Poggio Lamentano Olive Oil. I think I got on my soapbox a while ago about the value of really good balsamic vinegar and I’m going to do the same for olive oil. Good, speciality olive oil tastes amazing. And different. And is the perfect gift for the slightly snobby foodie on your list.

(3) The Veronica Speedwell mysteries.  The first book on my list, which is really a series by a woman who is also the author of the second series on my list. I blew threw all of these books in a day a piece. If you love mystery novels, and you like post-Victorian London, and also like kick-ass heroines that really don’t follow the rules, then you’ll love both of these series. Book #4 comes out in March!

A Curious Beginning, A Perilous Undertaking, A Treacherous Curse

(4) Disney Sketch Purse by Dooney & Burke. You know I’m a Disney crazy person (next week!) and I got myself a version of this cross body and other believers comment on it all the time. It’s cute, kitschy and fun, just like any Disney kid!  Free shipping on orders over $75. Code: SHIPMAGIC

(5) Trung Nguyen Vietnamese Style Coffee. If you love coffee, you have to try this. It’s a bit pricey, but so is the sub-par speciality roast you buy at the regular grocery story. Yam and I brought a few bags of this stuff back from Vietnam and cursed ourselves for not bringing back more.

(6) Tallship Astrid Mini Kinsale Tote. I came across Mamukko while in Ireland and I just love their products, which are all made out of recycled sails, lifejackets, ropes…anything else that used to be a ship part! The stuff’s cute, and I wanted about half of everything in the store. Limited selection online, but if you find yourself in Ireland, you should find yourself in Kinsale!

(7) Zingerman’s candy bars. Yes, I clearly have drunk the Zing kool-aid and am a huge fan of their store, restaurants and products. These candy bars are THE BEST, perfect for stocking stuffers. Ca$hew Cow and Peanut Butter Crunch are my faaaves.

(8) Long Sleeve Breton.  As much as I wanted to link to yet another coat I want from Boden, I’m keeping it to something more practical. I have like, 3 of these in various colors and I live in them. Cute, comfy and they even have holiday ones! 30% off, Code V4N9

(9)  Canadian Olympic Team Collection apparel. Biscuit got me these for my birthday and they are the warmest!  I live in the cold parts and these gloves werk. Makes sense, Canada knows what’s up. If you prefer Team USA stuff, check it here. (Team USA shop has 20% off over $39)

(10) Holiday Forest Travel Candle.  Smelling this as I type. It’s amazing, especially if your fake tree needs a little help. Free shipping on orders over $49. Use code FREESHIP49

(11) Whiskey in a Teacup by Reese Witherspoon.  Such a fan. A light read with recipes to boot (may be making those biscuits sooner rather than later!)

(12) Personalized Stationary. #11 reminded me how much I just love personalized stationary! Mine recent order came out super cute!  Free shipping with $75 purchase.

(13) The Greatest Showman soundtrack.  I’ve always been a huge fan of soundtracks because they usually have such a great mix on them. This has been on repeat regularly since I saw the move this spring.

(14) The Lady Julia Grey Mysteries.  Same author as #3, I just could not put these down.

(15) Personalized Travel Print by Evelyn Henson.  I randomly discovered a print of hers at a home store and I just love the style. Cute and perfect for any world traveler!

That’s it! As I’ve gotten older I realized how much less stuff I want, and this narrowed down the few things that make me happy: good coffee, good reads, good music, pretty paintings, comfy clothes, cute bags and warm hands. And really good chocolate.

I mean, what else could a girl ask for?
