Introducing, Pictured Rocks. Picturesque, isn’t it?
We made our way to Pictured Rocks from Tahquamenon Falls and we so lucked out because our trip was 100% weather dependent and the powers that be let it shine, let it shine.
We almost weren’t so lucky- a “Derecho” was looming in our midst and threatened to ruin our weekend, but the clouds parted and we ended up with the perfect weather in which to hike.
Which was great, because we hiked a lot.
The nice thing about Pictured Rocks is that there are so many vantage points around Munising (more on that pit stop later) from which to see it. Unfortunately our kayak trip ended up being cancelled, but we got a few good shots, in my opinion, from the trails.
From the top, at Miner’s Castle (pictured above).
From the side, at Chapel Rock.
Down below from Chapel Beach.
I mean, is there a bad shot? Not really, so sorry for the photo dump.
Our Chapel Rock loop took us about 11 miles through the woods, mucking through trails that had just survived a pretty intense rain storm.
Past a few falls and rapids. Over the river and through the woods. You know how it goes.
Ending with some sweet relief to stick our toes in the sand before hitting the second loop back to the car.
Stopping to pose for a few pictures, of course.
We did manage to get on the water in a larger boat to take some photos, but the weather was gloomy and we ended up turning around because of choppy seas anyway. Still, Pictured Rocks just doesn’t have a bad angle.
Like, none.
Definitely a Kodak moment.
