Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

I know it’s been a bit quiet in these parts. Last Saturday we lost our Tela, and that meant that the last week it was hard to find any words, and few without tears. Especially when we woke up Sunday morning to a street covered in snow, and thought of how much our sweet husky loved mornings just like that, where she’d walk out of the house with her nose in the air taking it all in. She could just smell the snow and appreciated it more than the rest of us ever did, or ever would.

It’s been a strange week of getting used to a new normal – how an extra pancake would go uneaten; how the spot on the floor through the kitchen doorway where she used to lay sat empty and how 9 pm no longer signaled the end of the night like it did for so long.

Ok, so that’s the news here.  Besides that, it’s seemed evident more than once this week that Mercury was doing its thing. Cruel planets.

Anywhere, here is what managed to catch my eye during what seemed like a very long week.

Love thee, Notre Dame. It’s never too late to finish what you started!

An interesting read: how I chose my kid’s Indian names so my husband could pronounce them.  I ended up with the whitest name possible, and my brother ended up with the blank stares when he presents his.

“Thank you for your service.”  Something so automatically uttered when facing our veterans…but should we? Another very thought provoking perspective.

A Man’s Unborn Twin Fathered His Son Thanks To Genetic ChimerismWhoa, science.

A case for re-watching Frasier.  I’m listening.

Though it’s gotten harsh reviews, I’m enjoying The Gilded Age! Obviously I loved Downton Abbey (hello, my cat’s name is Crawley) and am appreciating it much more after visiting Newport this summer. Can’t wait to see how it unfolds!

An ode to the pancake. BTW, these Korean stuffed Hotteok are fab!

What’s in your fridge? It’s fun to see what other people’s staples are. When my kitchen is my own, I always have kimchi, spicy mustard, raspberry jam, Parmesan and Gruyere cheese and milk.

Travel predictions for 2022? Straight from the flight attendants’ mouths! I’ll take some of these!

Even though my Bills lost last week, I love a good sports rivalry, and I see more good things from the Bills-Chiefs for years to come. And I mean the real kind of good.

And finally, the end of an era? Amy Schneider, the Jeopardy queen, took her final bow and it was, I think, a shock to us all watching! Still, one for the ages!

Have  a great week!
