Spanish Charmed, Cala d’Or

Spanish Charmed, Cala d’Or

Last vacation post, I promise. But I couldn’t close the #PlayinOnLaPlaya book without telling you about what was perhaps the most charming pit stop, a little village in the southeast corner of the island called Cala d’Or.

Much like our stop in Capdepera, I arbitrarily chose Cala d’Or based on enough recommendations from the interwebs. They weren’t wrong!

Like with our other stops, it was pretty obvious that we hit it in the off-season. The beautiful pools at our resort were still too cold for us to enjoy, but we made the most of our one night in town nonetheless.

Doing our favorite thing, wandering. And eating.

Cala d’Or is very obviously a beach town, but its pristine streets and charming shops were a far cry from the spring break capital that you’d find back here.

We might have bought ourselves a few leather goods to bring home. No regrets.

I couldn’t help be enchanted by the architecture.  The details certainly made the ordinary seem a little more extraordinary.

Just a random, gorgeous staircase.

And like with most of the food we ate this trip, simplicity won the day.

grilled prawns

Grilled prawns for him.

grilled squid

Grilled squid for me. Among other things.

Our casual seaside stroll back to the hotel was the perfect way to end the evening, and the trip.

Picking out boats for our daydream adventures.

Before settling in for the long trip home.

Adios, Espana!
