It’s grass court season. Let’s toast with a Blackberry Elderflower Pimms’ Cup.
If you’ve been around these parts you’ll know that I’m a huge tennis fan. If you’ve known me longer than these parts you’ll know that I’ve been playing tennis for as long as I could hold a racquet and not tip over.
It’s also pretty funny that for the first ten years that I played, I absolutely hated it.
Flash forward to now when I can’t wait until the thermometer breaks 50 degrees each spring so I can get outside and play. In 2019 my family and I celebrated life and my mom surviving a major health scare by going to Wimbledon. And for our 40/70 birthday trip (well, 41/71 if I’m being honest – thanks Corona), we all had so much fun that when presented with the world as an option, Mom opted go go back to merry old England.
We leave in less than two weeks, so WOO to that!
As I give life to some recipes past, this blackberry elderflower Pimms’ cup was just the thing to get me in the mood to drink the real thing courtside. My original post, Breakfast at Wimbledon, is still a solid go-to if you’re looking to host your own shindig stateside if you can’t be courtside.
While traditional Pimms’ is well, traditional, I rather enjoyed this blackberry elderflower varietal. Not being much of a drinker myself, it toned down the sharpness of the original. I think you’ll enjoy it- and it’s great for any summer gathering, even if tennis isn’t exactly your cup of tea.
This Blackberry Elderflower Pimms' Cup is a fruity twist on the traditional English summer drink, popular at The Championships at Wimbledon.Blackberry Elderflower Pimms' Cup
