Monday Musings

Monday Musings

Hello, Monday.

It’s been a glorious week of nesting. With almost a month straight of travel coming up (with one week off in between two long ones), I needed a week where I said yes to me, meaning no to all the social engagements, friends, other to-do in order to get my shit together before leaving tomorrow for Alaska. It was a productive week!  I reorganized my pantry after my built-ins got installed, and I set up a new desk area, which feels a lot less cluttered and a lot more peaceful.

I also foolishly thought that THIS WAS THE WEEKEND to tackle a gallery wall. Make that two gallery walls. So rather than spending that valuable time packing and cleaning, I spent countless hours measuring, designing, picking out frames and ordering artwork to make my home feel even more like mine.  Progress shown above…Time well spent, but time well spent pre-vacation? Debatable.

On that note, many thanks to the gaggle of friends that are stepping in to help watch Crawley Cat until I get a more permanent long-term situation sorted (Chloe we miss you!).

Anyway, this week, a short one but still noteworthy:

If you are also tackling a gallery wall project sometime soon, here are some tips and tricks.

RyanAir is the worst of the worst and this “check-in” fee is a low low. I know, I’ve paid it.

A good reminder.

Do you have an internet addiction? I feel like I get there sometimes, but then I go on vacation and am like “internet, what?” If you do, here’s your program.

We really do get by with a little help from our friends.

Who’s ready for GBBO?!?!

Ooh, Delta. You broke my heart.

It’s apple season, so I’ve got you for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And dessert! And drinks!

And if you need some dinner ideas for fall, I’ve got you covered.

If you’re like I have felt the last few years as far as completely failing at adulting (ie. keeping up with house things, life things, tax things, bill things, travel things, retirement things, all the things), I treated myself to this Adulting Kit and while I’ve only had it a few days and only filled out a few things, it’s AMAZING. If you also feel like a headless chicken most of the time, I say help yourself out.

Have a great week!

Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

The busy life continues and the overwhelm of it all caused me to put on Bridget Jones’ Diary last night for some sanctuary. I think it’s the stress of so much impending travel, plus some home-project disarray that is making my head spin. I’ve decided that this week I’m going to protect my peace as much as possible so that I can head to Alaska with the attitude of Excelsior! that it deserves.

We’re into fall, and I’ve already bought my first jig of cider and made my first loaf of apple bread. Are you there yet?

The news was somewhat of background noise this week as I lived and breathed the U.S. Open. And what a win last night! Anyway, here’s what else made my brainlines.

What is middle age? As a 40-something, is this a category into which I fall? Turns out it’s more of a mindset than an actual number.  Which makes sense because age in general in a mindset, IMO.

Snacking seems to be the new dinner? In any case, if you’re following this trend, here are some that will up your game.

Speaking of game, it’s football season and here are a few of my game day faves.

A hurricane-proof town?

Last week Joy the Baker talked about how, at 42 (same as me), she was considered lasers for her skin. I told her, and she responded, that we have thus far been hoping that the magic potions that are serums can keep us from going for the lasers for a while. Do they work? Here’s the dish on hyaluronic acid.

Why do we work 8 hour days again? A history.

Finland just keeps climbing no my hit list lately. First this, now ham.

Ugh, why can’t we just all settle back on cable?

That’s all- have a great week!
