Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

Yesterday was the first day in probably weeks where I just got to be home and sit and and listen to music and sit on my couch and snuggle with Crawley and it was glorious. R and I contemplated going to the pool, arguing to ourselves that it was one of the last weekends of summer to go, but then I reminded him that we shouldn’t have to convince ourselves to have a good time (especially since we’re at the lake all day today) and that if we both really wanted to just be at home with our furkids, then that’s what we should do.

Once we made that decision, it was like the day was a gift.

It was admittedly a rough week, with work being busy busy and Crawley fighting an IBS flare up that had us both on edge and frankly, stinky, all week. He’s on the mend and mentally now, so am I.  I’m giving myself a mental break to play later this week in New York for a day (more on that later) – and I hope you also give yourself the luxury of playtime. We forget how important it is when life seems like all work and no play – but prioritize it we must.

As for the interwebs, here’s what I got for ya:

Movies that did not age well. Hindsight is always 20/20, isn’t it?

The economic impact of the Eras tour. Definitely contributing to that with a flight to Germany next summer…and the purchase of a sparkly mini-dress.

Pistachios are apparently a quiet luxury.  I, personally think pine nuts are- and will rarely shell out for them.

The importance and symbolism of breaking bread around the world (and now I want to make ALL of this bread).

“Secret chain” restaurants are a burgeoning weird, middle ground version of a chain restaurant, and as someone who is very adamantly anti-chain, I’m kinda into it.

Mustard in brownies? Apparently. I think I’ll stick to my coconut extract. How to make things taste better.

The wellness benefits of swearing. That’s good because I admittedly have quite the potty mouth…

“I booked a last minute flight and bought a castle.” Well, I can’t say that I couldn’t see myself doing something equally foolish when I’m old and can afford to buy a castle…

Adding this to my library queue.

Grilling this weekend or next for Labor Day? Here are some faves to throw on the fire.  Parmesan Crusted Pork. Liptauer Burger. Beef. Chicken. Shrimp. Veg.

Have a great week!

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

Yesterday was one of those best-of summer days.  It kicked off with a trip to the blueberry farm to pick 2 1/2 pounds of summer’s best (what am I going to do with that many berries?! Maybe…?), followed by a nice long float on the paddleboard, a stop for some of the town’s best ice cream and was all capped off by a fabulous nap, however ill-timed (7pm, whoops).

Actually, it’s thanks to that ill-timed nap that you’re reading this today and not tomorrow, so I guess there’s that.

Today, my friend and I are hitting the bike trails and while you think we’re cramming SO MUCH into this weekend, it’s your reminder that summer is fleeting and will be over in a few short weeks. Get thee to the trails yourself.

This week didn’t go by in such a blur. I did stop to smell these roses:

Pray for your single friends. It still sucks out there.

Related: The Barbie break-ups.

Praise Jesus, the BMI is on its way out. Lord, if there was anything that could incite an eating disorder faster. Turned out, it was meant to measure white males.  Mmhmmm.

Also, leave my dinner alone.

These are your popsicles, and you are in charge.

The world’s longest flight. Gah. Could you do it? 19 hours? The longest I’ve ever done was 16 and I almost had it….I’m not sure I could hang on for an additional three.

Starbucks has nothing on Vietnamese coffee. I agree- that was some of the best coffee I’ve ever had (and if you want to order my favorite at home, Amazon to the rescue– though let it be known that I hate amazon).

I am The Lost Generation.

That’s all folks! More favorite birthday goodies coming at ya this week!
