A July 4th Summer Spread
A July 4th summer spread menu inspired by Zingerman’s Deli.
Summer Food Season. Let’s kick it off with this grilled corn and blue cheese salad.
Hello, Monday.
I consider this my first true weekend back from vacation since I was on my butt for most of last. This trip took longer for me to recover, not really from a jet lag perspective, but more from a “gosh, don’t I have any time to just take a deep breath?” one. I came home to a slew of appointments and obligations and I’m looking forward to a pretty clear summer for me to just SUMMER.
How are you? Is your summer bucket list in tact?
Also, these are my summer go-to shoes and have been for years. Get thee a pair for max comfort and not needing a weekly pedicure.
I don’t have anything solid rather than general plans to play lots of tennis, paddleboard, hike, eat lots of ice cream and hang out with friends. I don’t think summer needs anything other than that.
Also, my passport is in the yonder for renewal, so no last minute international jaunts for me!
With that, let’s kick off the week with some reads.
Lunch of suffering? Not wrong. “The point of the white people’s meal is to learn what it feels like to be dead, but I’ve taken two bites and it was so bad it made me realize how alive I am.”
How about a true feel good?
It’s never too late to travel the world with your best friend. AMEN AMEN!
As I tried the trending Ninja Creami protein “ice cream” this week (Verdict- don’t do it), it makes me ask – have we hit peak wellness food? Gosh I hope so. Let’s just eat real food!
Related- the fall of Beyond Meat.
As much as the thought of being a digital nomad appeals to my wanderlusting self, I love having a home base (and also just being home) too much. Seems that is not an unfounded reality.
Welcome to my grandma’s summer kitchen.
I really love Jurassic Park, still and always.
How much protein do we need a day, really? More than I can usually eat, but I do my best!
Finally, it’s strawberry season! Here’s a good way to go about it.
Have a great week!
We just got back from Paris yesterday, I’m bringing a little bit of that vacation vibe home to ya’ll. I’m doing that with these Craquelin Cream Puffs (Choux aux Craquelin).
Easy fluffernutter bars take the best flavors from New England’s famous sweet-salty sandwich and using peanut butter cookie dough, creates easy, transportable snack bars.
