I’ve fallen into my annual summer slump, where I want to cook nothing and I want to eat even less. I found myself shoving food into my face at 9 pm the other night just because I hadn’t felt like eating all day and it all caught up with me at once.

I blame the heat as always and the marshmallow like effect it has on my body, which makes me want to eat little more than ice.

Not even ice cream, these days.

Enough of my complaints. These are just the days of this life anyway when the temps rise to the over 80s.

BUT, today is my little bro’s birthday and since mine is in two weeks, I figured I’d share all the best sweet treats to celebrate any birthday, but in particular summer birthdays. Because summer birthdays are the best and thus, so are the treats that mark them. These are the main exceptions to my “I don’t like fruit desserts rule,” so consider these fruit desserts below high praise.

I mean, how could I really crap on a dessert that brings back memories of picnics in my grandparent’s backyard?
