Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

What a damn week.  Ugh. Let’s just keep our heads up and hope, pray and wish upon every star that it’ll get better. The world will get better. Perhaps if enough of us collectively build it, the world we want will come.

Ok, this is not in that vein but OMG talk about a God complex.  WTF.

Lessons from a five year old.

Twitter does just pull the stupidest people out of the woodwork, doesn’t it?

I’ve never been on a truly solo adventure – and this in part, is why.

What an effing coward (among other things).

Reminder: not everything is awful.

The latest bit of science says that we should be drinking coffee, so cheers to that.

Anyone else worried about facial recognition?

For all my single ladies (and gents); Let’s celebrate it!

To all: don’t waste your weekends!

Remembering a life well lived.

That’s it. Let’s all have a better week.

Finding Neverland, Disneyland Paris

Finding Neverland, Disneyland Paris

There’s something about the magic of Disney. There are those of us that feel it. It’s a club, one that some would loathe to be a part of, and others, like myself, that shout it from the rooftops. We embrace the magic, feel the hope,…

Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

It’s been a weekend full of tennis on this end, closing out the season with glorious weather outside, keeping me exactly where I should be. In not so many months, our outdoor days are over and in this house that means hunkering down with books and comfort foods.

But we’re not there yet!  It’s August, BIRTHDAY MONTH, so favorites coming at you all month long.

Here’s what I’ve got today. I hope you’re enjoying this Sunday Funday.

As for reading, I plowed through this one. Love, love.

I like this idea: living the frugal life makes small luxuries so much sweeter.

Tokyo is recycling electronics for a very good cause.

The art of being alone.

Do you have a shared Google calendar with your friends? I’ve never even really thought to do this (since I still use a post-it note calendar to plan my life!) but it’s not a bad idea as we all strive to find time to be together when everyone’s running on empty.

The freelancer life.  I admit that I love the idea of being on my own, but I’m not willing to take the financial hit, or feel like I always have to hustle to make enough to pay my bills. So I’ll just sit here and keep dreaming about it because I think otherwise it would be so ideal.

Despite its issues, social media really does bring the world together.

Remember paying $300 for a college textbook? Thank goodness those days are over.

And finally, I’m not going to lie that I really want the apothecary table.

That’s it! Have a great week.

Pottering around London

Pottering around London

Anyone that asks how our little vacation was, before I excitedly launch into the specifics, I make it clear that it was very much a nerd trip. Tennis aside, between Harry Potter and Disney (more on that later), it was very clearly planned to bring…

Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

Ugh. I’ve reached the point where when people ask me how I am, I say ‘busy.’ I hate that, and for some time I banished that from my reality when I moved from Chicago over two years ago, but somehow it’s crept back in. Much is due to tennis, which we’re winding down here for the summer a bit, but three leagues was admittedly too much. That, plus the fact that I’ve been on at least one trip a month since December had tapped my energy and my bank account. Looking forward to laying low as I stare down August, with a low key birthday time, and a casual trip to see Biscuit in Guelph (which, I’m really pumped about!).  Otherwise, it’ll be nice to re-introduce myself to Crawley, who no doubt has forgotten a little bit about who I am.

Finishing this weekend celebrating love and friends with a wedding, and family with a birthday brunch for my Irish twin.  Breakfast pizza, I’ve got it.

Here’s what I got for your Sunday morning read, so grab some coffee, consider your own breakfast pizza, and put those feet up.

My name is Chrissy and I have PCOS. This is my story.

If you go to The Netherlands, please eat these and send me a pic, k?

Knitting as a means of spying? True story.

Kind bars are trying to revolutionize food labeling.  It’s doing a pretty good job of it.

Choose gratitude. It’s good for your brain!

As someone who ONLY goes to Disney without children…sigh.  When people are bitter about their life choices.

When your family is transformed by Fox News.

Yo, CLIMATE CHANGE. Exhibit 1,000,000,000.

In a world of constant criticism…how to get thicker skin.

Need. To. Make.

Have a great week!

Bucket list, check. Last year when Mom suggested that we all head over for Wimbledon, it took 0.0002 seconds for me to think about it before screaming yes! Almost a year in the making, I crafted a trip for me and the family (and Tomato,…
