Monday Musings

Monday Musings

Hello, Monday.

Whew, what a whirlwind of a weekend.

It’s been a busy month, with seemingly every moment of every weekend, actually, more like every day, booked hour by hour. All good things, but frankly a bit exhausting. I spent Saturday running from errands to tennis to lunch with one friend to dinner with another. Yesterday, Brother, Mom and I took ourselves to downtown Detroit for the Immersive Disney experience to celebrate Mom’s birthday today, followed by a delicious lunch at our favorite Cuban restaurant.

I also dodged the power outages of an ice storm, so lucky for me – this picture was my window Thursday morning.

This weekend I’m heading to Disney with Mom for some R&R, pool time, sun and chlorine to recharge and get us through the rest of winter. We go down this time every year, and every year by this time, we are all so ready for the escape.

As for this week? Here are my ponderings:

Given the aforementioned busy-ness I’ve described above, perhaps it’s time that I take back a day.

I’m working on something….so maybe the above will be a more realistic endeavor.

Actually, maybe we should all consider that something (ie, 4 day workweek).

Fish Fridays? Here’s why it’s a thing (I do love me a church fish-fry).

I don’t have these particular ones (RIP Pier One), but I use pasta bowls more than any other dishes in the house. You should def give them a try.

Do you use jarred pasta sauce? I can’t say that I make pasta that much, but despite having a mom that made almost everything from scratch (except for cornbread – that was Jiffy and pie crust- that was Pillsbury), she was actually a Prego devotee (with mushrooms) and added her own pizzazz to make it her own semi-homemade concoction. Shame about it no more.

For my family’s spaghetti recipe, see here.

I recently received these amazing chocolates as a gift and – highly recommend.

That’s all folks- have a great week!
