Tennis Tourists- Paris

Tennis Tourists- Paris

Back on dry land from our adventures in Italy, we were off to Paris for a little bit of tennis.

You know from our deux appearances at Wimbledon (in 2019 and again in 2022) that we do love ourselves some live tennis in foreign countries. Funny that we’ve actually never been to New York. But anyway…

We ended our tour in Italy with a few days of Memorial Day weekend to spare and in brainstorming ideas of where to go from Naples, I tossed a few ideas around to Mom.

The Vatican? No.

Rome? No.

Paris? No.

But…Paris for tennis? YES.

And with that, our Paris trip took shape. Since we were primarily there for the French Open and since Mom really didn’t’ want to be in Paris otherwise (never been, never had a desire to go, doesn’t like cities, etc etc), our trip was short but we surely did cram a lot into it.

And it was clear from the look on Mom’s face within one hour of being there that this surely would not be our last trip to the city of lights.

This picture was not posed.

So how did we spend our short four days in Paris? By being tourists of course! Since it was Mom’s first trip, we just had to!

We kicked off our first full day by heading to Le Foodist for a market trip + cooking class, where we learned all about the sourcing of French foods and ingredients and the laws around labeling, etc.  So informative, and delicious!*

And gosh, don’t we just love a market?

After  quick nap, we did our own walking around before joining one of many free walking tours around Paris.  They are free, but recommend generous tipping.  Our guide was fab and his tip was well deserved.

The next day we took the morning to be full on tourists ourselves. Hitting all the main stops.

Fueled by coffee…

and Nutella-filled crepes with a pretty good view.

We did some shopping, ogled (and bought) some pastries and other goodies

and posed for silly pictures, as one does.

Working up quite the appetite for our afternoon tea.

and setting ourselves up for a night under the lights.

Unfortunately for us, our second day at Roland Garros got cut short by some fluke but fast acting flu. We both felt awful and said illness lasted almost a week after we both got home.

Guess we’ll just have go to back again.

I’m sure we will.

*Highly recommend Le Foodist if you’re looking for a cooking class while you’re in town.  Such an enjoyable time!
