Hello, Monday. Thank you for being here with me Monday morning. I know this wonder of a newsletter usually hits you Sunday morning, but Saturday I was too busy buying gnomes (pictured above) and gnome-themed things and prepping for my online cooking class that I…

Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

Is it Sunday?

I just love Thanksgiving weekend so much because it’s the only weekend a year to just BE. It’s a lot of sitting around Mom’s house- eating here and there, switching from movies to books to board games to puzzles. I might work out, I might check my email. I don’t have to do anything.

Usually, Thanksgiving also kicks off a month of not-full work weeks because we head to Disney just in the right way to give us one full week of work before Christmas rings through. However, COVID shut that shit down, so I’m trying to fill the month with prolonged cheer so as to not remember the Disney merriment we’re missing. Or the fact that if we weren’t at Disney, we were definitely going to be in Hawaii right now…

Anyway, enough about what could have been and best to look forward into what will be. I’ve already got my word picked for 2021 and I can’t wait to get to work on next year’s vision board!

As for this week’s internet findings, here we go!

REMINDER: Today is the LAST DAY to sign up for my crepe making class! Next Sunday you’ll be filled with deliciousness, and give back to a great cause while you’re at it!  Sign up HERE.

Have you started your holiday shopping? I’ve gotten my shop on a little this weekend. If you’re looking for some good small businesses to support, check my list here. If you’ve got some more for me to add to this list, let me know!

This thread is a big fat what we could be if we weren’t so damn stupid.

My friend Rebecca wrote this piece about what it was like to be an American abroad in 2020- it’s a good one!

Remember to include Linzer cookies in your holiday baking because they are the best.

That’s all I’ve got today- have a great week!

My Favorite things, 2020

Here we are again! Holiday season! Season of Joy in the Year of Joylessness.  I’m so ready for it, I put my tree up a few weeks earlier this year. Now, I had a string of years where I’d link my favorite purchases of the…

Hello, Monday.

Here we go, guys. A new week. A short week, for those of us Stateside. And aren’t we just all so ready for a few days off? I know we get to this point every year when we hit Thanksgiving week, but something about the last one in particular just seemed abnormally harsh. Did you feel it, too? At least a handful of other friends and I all lamented that this last week sucked. Perhaps our mindset sucked? Anyway, I’m sure one influences the other, whichever way it goes.

While I stared my weekend with a nasty email, I ended it with ice cream, wine, Christmas music and fully decked halls.  A good omen for the upcoming days, I think.

Last week was all a blur, but my self did have some foresight to save some goodies for you throughout the week. Enjoy!

FIRST- I’m teaching a ‘how to make crepes‘ class on Sunday, December 6th, 12 EST to benefit the Children’s Literacy Network! Join me! Or, if you can’t. please considering signing up to donate $10 to the CLN!

I know that many of us aren’t going home for Thanksgiving, but I’m going to leave this here for you because it certainly made me LOL.

If you aren’t going home, here are some tips for your Thanksgiving table for one.

Do you need help this week? There’s the Ultimate Guide to Gravy. While you’re hanging out with I am a Food Blog, they’re also here to help us with side dish options!

Just saying that this pumpkin spice no churn ice cream option is a great alternative to pie. Because ice cream >> pie.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends!

Little House in the Big Woods, Maryland

Little House in the Big Woods, Maryland

That title takes you back, doesn’t it?  Last week, I escaped. I escaped Michigan, where I’ve been landlocked since March. Escaped my condo where, with the exception of my July getaway, I’ve been trapped since quarantine started. I escaped my loneliness, which despite phone calls…

Hello, Sunday. Hello from the Smoky Mountains of Maryland! My girls and I escaped our respective cities for a mini-break, in a cabin, surrounded by nothing but trees and ourselves. I’ll share the details later this week, but suffice it to say it was just…

Hello, Sunday.

It’s a good day.

Yesterday was a good day. Now, it’s time to keep fighting the good fight.

You know, Covid is still a very big thing, so go ahead and put up those Christmas decorations and bust out the Michael Buble. I’m escaping for a little socially isolated road-trip getaway this weekend and I can’t be more pumped for it.

I was hard to keep any sort of focus on anything this week and I, for one, kept the TV off a lot of the week, as well as my web browsers. Still, a few gems.

In fact, I’ve got Georgia on my mind.

The internet REALLY got us all through this election. Here are two of my favorites from the genius that is twitter.

The real winners of this election are the Biden pups.

The illustrator behind the GBBO DOESN’T LIKE CAKE.

Getting used to having nowhere to be.

I do love a good club sandwich. So does the world, apparently!

Don’t think I also didn’t notice Rachel Green’s Thanksgiving outfits.

53 roast chicken ideas, because we all need help and inspo these days.

That’s all I’ve got. Get some rest this week!
