Fizzy Ginger Citrus Drink
This fizzy ginger citrus drink is a fresh, summer take on a mocktail that will certainly help beat the heat, without alcohol, to keep you hydrated.

Last vacation post, I promise. But I couldn’t close the #PlayinOnLaPlaya book without telling you about what was perhaps the most charming pit stop, a little village in the southeast corner of the island called Cala d’Or.
Hello, Sunday.
It was a long week. Did it feel like a long week to anyone else? Time is weird.
As summer tends to do, the calendar is filling up faster than I can keep track. A good problem to have for sure after almost two years of half-heartedly made plans and few visitors!
I’m excited to get outside for most of it. My hiking shoes and bathing suits are ready!
I hope that you’re going to be kicking off summer with a bang next weekend. Until then, here are some things that made me go, huh.
I’m sure that I’m not the only one that died of dysentery regularly as a kid. As such, I found this read about the actual Oregon Trail quite interesting!
Love Colin Firth. And he is definitely my favorite Darcy, no matter what he thinks!
Men want the 50s housewife after the kids are born. Um. Yeah, hard pass for me.
Hard YES for me! Women’s soccer finally wins equal pay!
I know I just got back from vacation myself, but seeing all my insta-friends traipsing around on vacation has made me want to go back all over again. Vacation envy is real.
Do people actually eat those amazingly beautiful cakes on Instagram? I assure you that everything you see on my feed gets consumed in my household.
Did you ever hear about the “dance plague“? Weird and fascinating and not as funny as it sounds.
If you look on the recipes page of THB, you’ll see loads of ice cream recipes, churn and no-churn. It’s an obsession that borders on problematic. If you are too scared to join the at-home ice cream club, here’s a quick guide to get you started.
The new Downton. Go see it! So good!
Have a great week!
Well, we just got into the groove of hot days and cool meals, lighter fare and small bites as temps rose towards summer levels and…just like that we’re back in sweatpants and eating heartier bowls. Still, I’m trying to channel warmer times and for that,…
As predicted (and lamented) every year, we’ve skipped from winter straight to summer here and with 86 degree temps all weekend, we’re jumping head first into ice cream season. Taking it easy this first go of the season with a creamy Nutella no-churn ice cream.…
Hello, Sunday.
How’s everyone this fine day? I’m staring down a pretty big to-do list today but excited to get after it. Yesterday was also quite productive, but my OG plans got derailed by an impromptu decision to paint my closet. Weird to paint a closet? Maybe, but I love it.
When sitting down the write today’s post, I thought back to the news as I heard it and couldn’t of anything good that I’d heard. Granted, there’s always bad news, but even that, it seemed like terrible news stayed out of my awareness this week and that I suppose is a blessing.
Here are few snippets I did find, and I hope you’re reading them with a nice bevvy and feet up.
Parents sue their son for not giving them grandchildren. What the WHAT? I say that he should countersue if he HAS a kid for expenses. How ridiculous.
Liberty no more. Scary.
Why do some things just taste better frozen? Science.
HBO is ruining all the Mr. Darcys. The title of that made me laugh, but then I started watching The Staircase and I couldn’t even find Colin Firth in there…
Very much looking forward to eating a chipper on the beach in Wales this summer. Simple pleasures indeed.
Are you prone to pull a Sally Albright when ordering? Here are some things to consider if you’re ordering off-menu.
I miss my iPod daily (I left it on an airplane in 2019 in a very uncharacteristic move). Should I buy one before it’s too late?
It’s bathing suit seasons and this is my favorite brand – great for us sporty gals.
I’m trying to figure out what to eat and drink in the sweltering hot days again, and this weekend I whipped up some gingerade and mango chicken salad to get the season started.
That’s it. Have a great week!
Ready for a road trip? We moved on from our city adventures and head to the northeast or so corner of Mallorca to a little resort town called Capdepera. We picked up our mini-electric toy car (which Ham still misses daily, it seems), found the…
I hope you’re okay with hearing more about Spain in the coming weeks. It was such a good vacation, I’m going to relive it in my mind and in my kitchen for as long as I can, and the food was so fabulous, I hope…
Hello, Sunday.
And wishing all the moms, would-be moms, tragically not moms, animal moms, plant moms and all the “mom” figures of their friend group a very Happy Mother’s Day! Including my own, who ditched her children to celebrate with her best friend in New York. You go, Mom.
As for things going on in Michigan, as much as I love being gone, I really love home. I love my new house, I love my Crawley, I love hosting my friends and I love a lazy afternoon with epic naps and I’ve been basking in that all weekend. I have a few home projects to get done today (I’m stenciling my bathroom – wish me luck!) and some cooking, but I’m settling in for quite a long stretch of being home as the weather warms (finally!).
Coming home from another country is almost as much as a culture shock as going to one, with the good and bad, and honestly landing to the chaos of the Atlanta airport, and then waking up to the SCOTUS news a few days later made me just want to jump on a plane and go back. Or anywhere but here. What are we even doing? Some things we get right, but so many things we just get so wrong.
Going to share some things related to the above that really resonated with me this week. Read what you will, but you can look forward to more Spain tales and recipes from our trip in the coming weeks!
My Great-Grandpa Killed My Great-Grandma Giving Her An Abortion On Their Kitchen Table. This was horrifying and heartbreaking to read. Are we going back here if Roe is revoked?
Do you stack books around your house? There’s a word for that. I used to but just haven’t found a good place to put my stacks in the new place.
If you’re a Jeopardy watcher, what are your thoughts on Mattea? I actually liked her, a lot more than some of the other top champions that have been on of late.
I always fine lists of advice interesting to read- and here’s another gem. Also, life motto: Efficiency is highly overrated; Goofing off is highly underrated. Regularly scheduled sabbaths, sabbaticals, vacations, breaks, aimless walks and time off are essential for top performance of any kind. The best work ethic requires a good rest ethic. See above comment about epic naps, and see past blog posts for epic vacations.
This was interesting. Also, don’t get me wrong. I actually love my dentist, and good dental health is up there on my list of must-haves in a partner, but a shit dentist literally almost killed my mom with his shit practices. I’m on alert.
The food quality in the US is always a topic that gets me fired up, and I can afford to spend money on higher quality food. Is there a way to bring it back to its heathier roots?
If you need a last minute Mother’s Day treat, I made this cake again yesterday and it’s such a win. No mixer required.
Or, if breakfast in bed is more your thing, how about just some perfectly scrambled eggs (lobster optional)?
That’s it! Have a great week!
Let’s talk about Spain! I’m finally home, about 90% over the jet-lag and ready to reminisce about my latest jaunt to The Continent with Ham. In case you missed it, we spent the week on the lovely island of Mallorca. It was wonderful and beautiful…
