Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

So…big news!

Well, first, yay for Prince Louis! You know I love every second of it.

Second, I won tickets to the Kentucky Derby next weekend! Thanks to Joy the Baker, the folks at the Kentucky Derby and this recipe (pecan mud pie sundaes with a bourbon chocolate salted caramel sauce (pictured above)– do it) , I’ll be heading to Louisville Thursday for the festivities, a big hat and a few fancy dresses in tow, ready to do Cinco de Derby in style with Tomato. We’re off to the races!  Also, where should I eat in Louisville? LMK.

What else happened this week?  Besides the two aforementioned things, I care about little else.  Still, the world writes on, and here is what it had to say:

Anyone who runs a marathon is a champ in my book. The story behind one of the last runners on the Boston course.

Have you seen I Feel Pretty?  I can’t say that I’m a huge fan of Amy Schumer (don’t hate), but for some reason I’m intrigued by this movie. Thoughts?  ‘I Feel Pretty’ and the Rise of Beauty-Standard Denialism.

Related, sorta. How to be confident.

Mother’s day is in a few weeks. ICYDK.  Here are some ideas

Turns out my skepticism on the DNA ancestry tests was warranted. The Golden State Killer is tracked through a thicket of DNA.

The difference between Tom Brokaw and the others is the slew of women jumping in to fight with him rather than against him.

In another issue of kids say the darnedest things…

I’ve been in a biscuit kind of mood, so these might be on the docket some time soon. Plus, I just love those fixer-uppers.

Throwing a Cinco de Mayo party? Here a menu to get you going.

Have a good week! Follow me on Instagram to follow me as I hit the Derby this weekend!
