Sunday Somethings – #ThisIs41

Sunday Somethings – #ThisIs41

Hello, Sunday. Hello, I’m 41. It’s time for that annual reflection and the answering of the “what have I been doing with my life?” that comes around every August. But this year, I feel like I have started to do some honest to goodness adult…

Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday. Hello from Washington! I’m here for on a work trip, ready to face the scorching east coast temps outside in parallel with the no-doubt freezing conference temps inside.  The joys of summer. Speaking of summer, I spent most of yesterday doing summer things…

Monday Musings – August 2022

Monday Musings – August 2022

Hello, Monday.

Hello, August!

It’s my birthday month and you know that means that all month long I’m cooking up all of my faves, in the hopes that you’ll make them your faves, too. I’m a LEO- we celebrate all month long. After ten years of doing this, I’ve definitely hit all the top-tops, so it’s when I take the chance to be creative and see if I can out-best my bests.

I’m excited.

But first, we’re in a new month, so let’s check in with each other. This is what’s happening on my part of the mitten. Besides geese interrupting morning tennis earlier this week.

wishing: it just wasn’t sooo hot

hoping: august can still stay slow so that i can chill before fall picks up

thinking: of what i want out of the rest of the year

praying: my family and friends stay healthy

planning: greek adventures for september!

dreaming: is it so ridiculous to say 2023 travel?

wearing: bathing suit season!

eating: rice cakes, oddly enough + almond butter

drinking: arnold palmers

reading: boyfriend material

watching: maggie, on hulu

traveling: to D.C. next week – i can’t wait!

believing: it’s all going to work out

Have a great week and a great month!

Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday. Summer is sizzling all over the country and I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve been staying indoors for most of it, save for morning tennis followed by morning walks. I hate the hot weather- you know this- and the humidity lately has…

Seaside Strolling, Tenby

Seaside Strolling, Tenby

When asked the this-or-that question of whether I’d choose to live by mountains or water, even though it’s reeeeally hard to answer, I’d have to go with water.  I grew up around it, from the Atlantic to the Gulf, to Lake Erie to Lake Michigan…

Monday Musings

Monday Musings

Hello, Monday.

Whew, still dragging myself around since I got back. Well, not dragging really. I’m well rested and off the jet lag, but find myself wanting to do nothing but read and relax with Crawley and as such hadn’t gotten much done in the way of chores when the sun started to set Saturday night. This post went the way of the laundry and took a back seat to my latest book.

So we’re kicking off Monday with some musings rather than Sunday with somethings. Same words, different day.

How are you? Well, I hope and it seems we didn’t have any truly terrible news this week so let’s hurrah for that.

Anyway, onward to Monday and a new week!

Heathrow indeed was a minor disaster last week so I’m actually impressed that they are doing something about it by limiting the amount of passengers that come through daily.  While it might lead to angry passengers as flights are cancelled, I think it would result in reduced frustration in the long run. Will US airports follow suit?

Hmm. Thoughts on an open marriage?  While at 40 I’m open to more non-traditional versions should that be part of my future (long-distance perhaps?) but open? Not so much. Just seems a breeding ground for drama, of which I am wholeheartedly not a fan.

Gah! I just love it when small town businesses are open to having some fun with each other. Sign wars!

Cases are on the rise again- are we ready for the fall??

Alligator attacks haunt me even though I am far away from their reach. Growing up in Florida will do that to you. For goodness’ sake Southerners, stay away from the water!

The new foodie travel destinations. I guess I just need to look out my back door! So many damn places to go.

If you’re embarking on the digital nomad life, it’s becoming easier to do do, and you’re gaining more and more options.

If you’re in the Ann Arbor/Detroit area, please join me at A Night for the Books, a fundraising event for the local nonprofit for which I am on the board. It’ll be a fun night for a great cause! You can buy your ticket here.

That’s all I’ve got today. Have a great week!

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday. Hello from Cardiff!  Actually, as you’re reading this we are on our way back to London before flying out tomorrow, but I’m writing this from our hotel room in Cardiff, overlooking Principality Stadium and watching the sunset over some sticky toffee pudding room…

Sunday Somethings

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday. I sat down late last night to write this (Saturday nights, as I tend to do) and almost thought of postponing, but found myself in a particularly chatty mood (having fallen victim to the trashy summer read- and in good spirits having just…

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

Well, it’s been a bit of a week. I was close-quarters exposed to COVID on Tuesday so I held my breath all week waiting for symptoms. When they didn’t come by Friday, I took a test and because of user error (ie, not reading the instructions), I thought I had COVID until yesterday morning when I retook the test and it was negative. Another negative this morning provide that don’t have COVID, but that I am in fact, an idiot.

Though does a negative test really mean what we think it does?

It was a Lulubelle moment (ie my personalized version of a blonde moment).

Anyway, footloose and COVID-free, it was a good wake up call and reminder to be careful because in three weeks from today I’ll be in London and I’ll be damned if one stupid slip up is going to stop me.

Anyway, so how are you?

Here are other things that struck me this week. Read on, if you will.

When the supply chain problems really hit home.

If you want to view paradise…when movies happen IRL.

I don’t even have kids, but I appreciate these mom tweets to Kate about Prince Louis.

I’m watching this four-day workweek pilot…

Well, this was brave. Would you?

How about a feel-good story?

Could we really go without plastic? Even though I do my best to not in my own home, it’s hard to imagine in society as a whole.

Related- we have a byoc store here in town – do you?

Grandma cooking IS forever, and I’m very thankful to all my friends’ grandmas who have shared their recipes with me and you for the blog.

It’s summer, so break out the panzanella!

That’s all I’ve got. Let’s have a good week, eh?

Sunday Somethings – June

Sunday Somethings – June

Hello, Sunday. Hello, June! I can’t believe that we’re already in June. After two years when time seemed to craawwwwwwwl at the slowest tortoise’s pace, this one is the hare on crack. Keeping it light today in these heavy times. I’m staring at a jam…
