Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday. Sawnday, Mawnday, Tuesday, Wednesday. What day is it?  Gosh, the world is both falling apart and blurring together, yah? In Michigan, we’ve had 15 business days at shelter-in-place, and I can’t do the math to figure out how many actual days it’s been.…

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.  Yes, it is Sunday, thought admittedly on this end the days sort of blend together. The routine stays sort of the same, though I do enjoy not being beholden to my computer for 8 hours on the weekends. Still, get up, walk. Eat.…

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

Damn, what a week and we all know that it’s just the beginning. I’ve been trying, trying so hard to keep some sanity by taking frequent walks, having frequent snuggles with Crawley and cooking and baking things (first this, then this).  Is it enough?

My happiest day in the past 10 or so was yesterday. I was outside a lot. I cleaned. I exercised. I cooked. I made ice cream. And I was only in front of my computer long enough to write this post. I had my Frankie Valli pandora station blaring through the house. It was oh so perfect, and oh so what I needed.  It’s hard to get away from it all if you have the type of job that I do where you’re in front of the computer all day, getting constant updates about how horrible everything is and how everything is just getting worse.  So, maybe do yourself a favor and turn off the noise for a second, k?

The worst of times does bring out the best, as I mentioned last week. It also seems to bring out people’s creativity! We’ve got a few more weeks of this so I can’t wait to see what else people can come up with. Here are some of my favorites.

Pirates of the Caribbean, quarantine style.

Sports commentating, without the sports.

This dude ran a marathon on his balcony.

Toilet paper roll art.

In case you didn’t know, you can still Netflix and chill with your friends, from afar.

Also, ICYDK, this is how you clean a toilet.  With a most excellent commentary.

These fun things are free!

Now, here’s a leader.

How you can help.

Health care workers, click this! AllBirds wants to help you!

Remember, you might be alone, but don’t forget, you don’t have to be lonely. That’s important.

Have a good week. Do your best!

Hello, Sunday. Hello, friends. Beware the Ides of March. Indeed. It’s scary out there, but I take comfort in the fact that we are literally, all of us, everyone in the world, in it together. We are not only responsible for ourselves, but for our…

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday. Yes, I’m here, and no, I haven’t fallen off the ends of the earth yet. I was pleasantly disconnected on vacation and was too busy vacationing to have anything official posted last week. I did manage to get out my monthly newsletter on…

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

I’m staring down three days of work before I’m off on a jet plane, and let me tell you, I AM READY. It’s been around two months since any sort of adventure, big or small and I need to get out of the zone of my couch, my routine, my work and my play and get some vitamin D poolside with an African starr mojito and one of the many books I’ve hoarded the past few weeks.  Sorry, Crawley, but you’ll be fine. Mom’s gotta GO.

I hope that by the time I get back I’ll be more than ready to bombard you with goodness and ideas and the kitchen creativity that I’ve been lacking lately.  Refresh, recharge.

Until then, a little reality in the way of readings. Here we go.

IT’S HAPPENING. #TheOnewiththeReunion

Medicare will now pay for acupuncture. I did seek out this alternative treatment to drugs for my PCOS and I truly believed that it was working, but at the end of the day I couldn’t afford to keep it up.  Good for medicare for this.

Coronoavirus. What a freaking mess.

Get ready: high speed train routes are coming home!

How true are those food videos we all see online? Some are put to the test and…not so true!

Warning: more bad news for these bad times.

Okay now, how ’bout a feel good? Travel love stories for the wandering soul.

For the love of snow days.

Remember to Mardi Gras, ya’ll.

That’s it! Have a great week!

Hello, Sunday. Gah. It’s Sunday already. I’m so not ready for it, or for the week ahead. I’m sure it’s made a bit longer by the fact that I’m in major vacation countdown mode. Not only for Disney (11 days), but also for Jordan (32…

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday. It’s been a mixed bag weekend- I spent much of yesterday in the house, cooking, doing my thing, reading, chilling, being the introvert that I truly am deep down, and am spending much of today surrounded by friends and delicious food and good…

Sunday Somethings

Hello, Sunday.

Well, yesterday it snowed all day, which it wasn’t supposed to and since I had to go out in it, it put me in a bit of a mood. Good thing while I was out I bought donuts, and also ate tacos, so it was worth facing the dust.  Otherwise, the afternoon has been spent cooking, reading, watching A Perfect Romance (again) on Netflix, and getting my head on straight for the week. Some Sundays it takes longer than others, doesn’t it?

It was a depressing news week. Is there going to be a week where I don’t say that? Sigh. Anyway, here’s some things to hopefully keep your mind off all of the heaviness. If it doesn’t work, might I suggest a donut?

Age is truly just a number and I say (at 38) that more doors open up every year that passes. And new triumphs! Don’t give up just because you’ve got another ring around the tree.

Not everyone has an internal monologue! MIND BLOWN. I wish mine would shut up sometimes. Especially recently, when my mall walking purgatory has her going non. stop. all. the. time.

This dog takes herself to the park everyday on the bus because dogs are the best and don’t deserve us.

The chocolate brewing witches of colonial Latin America. A history lesson. I mean, chocolate is magic, isn’t it?

Whatever your political leanings, this kid is a must-watch!

Last year, more Americans went to the library than the movies. Way to go, us! Also, hand up, guilty.

Honest thoughts on our favorite soups. Agree…but I do love a good lobster bisque. Also, agree on the bone broth.

The secret life of Facebook monitors.

This year we have a woman coaching in the Super Bowl! In her own words.

The power of social media and the kindness of strangers. We need this, don’t we?

Again, good people doing good things.

Less cars on the street? Sign me up! Come on, American, we can do it! We need to do it!

How to be a more sustainable traveler. I’m listening.

If you want to make bread but are scared, here are some options to get you through it. Loving these flavor combos!

That’s it! Have a great week and Go Chiefs!

Hello, Sunday. The week sort of flew by on this end. Did it for you?  Not only that, we found ourselves with a weekend that didn’t leave us trapped in the house, staring at all the chores that needed doing, staring outside at the weather…
